Eating Disorders

I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. Before I opened my practice, I worked as Clinical Director of a residential treatment program, where she worked for nearly five years, helping women recover from eating disorders and other complex psychiatric illnesses. I am passionate about this work and empowering men and women to find freedom and ease in their relationship with food and their bodies. Many clients report that they feel their issues are not serious enough to require therapy. No one needs to suffer a minute of the all-consuming torment and constant ruminations that makes up an eating disorder. Full recovery and relief are possible and accessible to you.

I treat eating disorders therapeutically by starting to create small, but manageable ways to promote wellness and balance that will eventually lead to broad patterns of change. At the same time, it is critical to respond to the deeper-rooted issues that are likely fueling unhealthy behaviors. I believe it is so critical to address and process all factors that may be contributing to an eating disorder so that clients leave therapy as a whole person. This may include but is certainly not limited to a fractured sense of self, history of trauma or dysfunction in important relationships.

Depending on the nature and severity of any eating disorder symptoms, I may encourage collaboration with other outpatient team members such as a dietician or psychiatrist. After many years working in this field in the Miami area, I am very familiar with the professional community that specializes in this unique issue.
